Well here we are about 4 ½ months since my last post.  Normally I would have bad news about having fallen off the paleo train and this post would’ve been pep talking myself into getting healthy.  But here’s the shocker – I ain’t fallen off no paleo train.  I been all up on dat bandwagon dis whole time.  So I’m pretty darn proud of myself.  While I haven’t slacked off on my eating guidelines, I’ve definitely been a slacker about posting.  Commitment issues.  So here are some pictures of a few things I’ve eaten since March.

While eating right has certainly made us healthier – it’s also made us skinnier! Finally!  I still have a long way to go till I reach my goal weight but it’s exciting and so encouraging to see the pounds fall off.  I started at 194.8 on 3/27/16 and am currently at 168.6 today on 8/12/16.  That’s 26.2 lbs, folks!  Mikey has lost an unbelievable 55 lbs, starting out in February at 249lbs and is down to 196!

He’s been so consistent with going to the gym and his body has changed so dramatically.  He sexy.

My ultimate weight goal is 135, but I’ll be stoked when I get to 150.  So my short term goal is another 18 lbs. from today and my long term goal is 33 lbs from today.  That means that when I reach my long term goal, I’ll have lost almost 60 lbs.

In the past month or so, Mikey and I have had a few cheats here and there.  Ice cream is our biggest weakness lol.  So when my parents were in town, we hit up the ice cream place twice in 4 days lol.
Other than that, we snack on 85% dark chocolate (70% for Mikey, since he needs chocolate sweet like him), cashews, almonds, peaches, kielbasa, cheese, and miniature cucumbers.

I started plateauing a little bit recently, which could be due to our occasional splurges or due to walking less frequently.  Life has been a little crazy so maybe we can get back to routine in the coming weeks.

We’re on our way to Canada for a belated anniversary trip J It’s a town called Carleton Place in Ontario and we’re staying for 3 nights so hopefully our stay there will be much more relaxing than the drive up – Mikey literally just said “I can’t stand when someone cuts over in front of me – I just want to shoot them and kill them…”

Lawd help me.

Well last night was ok.  Typical Monday.  We were sort of worn out.  Although somehow I managed to cook a few things lol.

I got home and made some roasted green beans and roasted carrots, but we only had 1 very small piece of ham each so we ate the rest of the Taco Bake I did last week.  It was probably too many calories for one meal, but I guess we were just thinking about meat/protein.  Plus, now I can wash my dish yay.

After dinner, I whipped up some Morning Glory Muffins, which required a quick walk to Ray's for some carrots.  The wind was so ridiculous that instead of making it into a 2 mile walk like usual, I think it amounted to a 7 min grocery run.  It was so horribly cold and blustery.

When we got back, I finished the muffins and started on the Blueberry Breakfast Cookies, which is actually a pretty quick recipe.  Mikey looked like this.

Easter Dinner Recovery

Yesterday was Easter and my tastebuds were leaping right along with all the bunnies.  We went over to Tammy's around 2 and I brought green bean casserole, bacon-wrapped butternut squash, and the most mouth-watering homemade-from-scratch apple pie.

There was also ham, macaroni salad, roasted carrots, and mashed potatoes.  So much goodness.  I tried to remember portion control but I may have gotten a little carried away with the mashed potatoes because mashed potatoes.  When it came time for dessert, I brought out my little pride and joy.  It was well received and my cousin Lauren begged for my recipe.  The recipe is basically 6 sticks of butter.  Anyway, I managed to only have half a slice, which was still probably 8239487 calories.

We were stuffed so once we got home I only had a few spoonfuls of the chocolate/peanut butter banana "ice cream" I'd made earlier last week.  That was about it for Sunday.  For some reason I didn't exceed my calorie limit - breakfast was 242 and dinner was 898 - totaled to 1,139 and then we took a walk so that burned 243 calories.  I'm wondering how much trust I should put in the My Fitness Pal app - since I'm doing Paleo, I shouldn't be having any sugars or grains but the app is really only concerned with calories.  There's an option for me to see the nutrition content of all that I ate in a day, and while I had 35 grams of sugar, I still didn't meet the minimum for sugar goal - 54!! I mean, that's nuts.  Definitely not as healthful as I was hoping it would be.

Anyway, to update on meals:

#bladderprobs

Today is Thursday and I'm off work tomorrow for Good Friday - YAY!

This morning, my sweet husband made me eggs and bacon for breakfast.  Another reason to be having a good day.  Especially to contrast the fact that yesterday took a depressing turn when I got a call that Rusty, my sweet golden retriever, died.  He was 12 years old but I just wasn't expecting it.

Anyway, today I have started a new part of my weight loss regimen and re-downloaded the MyFitnessPal app.  I'm adding our favorite Paleo meals in there for easy access and logged all of my meals for today so far.  It'll be nice to be able to see the nutrition content of the food I'm eating and keep track of the calories I'm eating per day.  When I did Paleo 2 years ago, I ate portions that I considered reasonable or ate until I was satisfied - which worked pretty well.  But I wouldn't be surprised if I had been eating more calories than is suggested for someone to lose weight.  Right now, the app recommended I eat 1200 calories a day in order to lose 2 lbs a week.  I don't think this will be too difficult, since my foods list has been condensed quite a bit because of Paleo.  There are a lot of fats though, so I'm wondering if that is something I should pay attention to.  Obviously sugar and carbs are the most important thing to watch - I'm not really taking in any sugars other than natural sugars at this point, so that shouldn't be too much of a concern.  I should probably decide on whether or not I will be having any splurges.  Easter is this Sunday and I'm making a homemade-from-scratch apple pie.  So I should decide on the amount of calories/sugars I will allow myself to have when/if I splurge.

Also to mention, I have been drinking 100oz of water every day since Tuesday, hence the blog title.  I tried It Works Wraps before our wedding and they really worked - nothing miraculous but I honestly think that's because I didn't drink the correct amount of water.  This time, I'm following the instructions more closely so I hope to have more noticeable results.  I guess I'll find out tomorrow (72 hours after the wrap).

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs & 2 slices of bacon

Lunch:  Paleo Chicken Salad on Romaine boats with red grapes, Babybel cheese, and 5 strawberries.

Back on the Wagon

Well lots has happened in 2 years! Marriage, moving, muffin tops - check, check, & check.

The last time I blogged, I was engaged and living in Vicksburg teaching art to K-6th graders. I was pretty successful on Paleo for the first few months but then decided processed, sugary foods were way more delicious, so I kicked Paleo to the curb. I had bouts of diligence throughout 2014, especially the closer it got to our wedding. The month or so before, I ate so much grilled chicken and broccoli it was ridiculous. Unfortunately, I didn't meet my goal weight before the wedding. I accomplished a lot but was still probably bigger than I was when I bought my wedding dress.

Fast forward to married life. I've heard of relationship weight but for some reason thought I'd already been there, done that, and had no extra weight to put on for after we got married. I mean, we'd been together for 5 years before we got married... that's plenty of time to gain all the happy, warm-fuzzy relationship weight you're gonna.

Well that was naïve.

I have gained somewhere in between 20 - 30 lbs since we've been married. And, again, am at a new "heaviest-ever" weight. Earlier this week I actually weighed myself for the first time all year because I knew what the mirror said and I didn't have the heart to see the scale reiterate it.

I started Paleo again this past Monday. We had tried to eat as Paleo as we could here and there but this is the first time I've really had my mind set to stick to it again. So I'm here to post our meals and watch the weight fall off.
